Welcome to the WKI Journal
A short note on why we're starting a journal — and what kind of writing you can expect from the WKI team. Plain English, no jargon, the same advice we'd give a neighbor.

For sixty years we've been doing one thing in Seguin: sitting across the desk from neighbors, asking what they own and what they worry about, and shopping the right coverage for the answer. Most of what we know about insurance we picked up the same way you pick up anything worth knowing — slowly, in conversation, one story at a time.
This journal is where we'll share some of it.
What we'll write about
Insurance is one of those subjects everyone needs and almost nobody enjoys. Most of the writing about it is either dense industry copy or marketing fluff. We want to do something different.
You can expect:
- Plain-English coverage explainers — what umbrella actually does, what UM/UIM means, why a $1,500 deductible is sometimes the right answer and sometimes the wrong one.
- Claims notes — what to do in the first hour after a fender-bender or a hailstorm. The choices that save you time and the choices that cost you.
- Life-event checklists — getting married, buying a house, starting a side business, sending a kid off to college. Each one changes your coverage.
- Seasonal advice — hail season in the Hill Country, freeze warnings, hurricane evacuations, the things we get asked about every year at the same time.
If you can't explain it to someone over a cup of coffee on Court Street, it isn't ready to publish.
Who's writing
You'll see bylines from the people you already know. Bryan on business coverage. Kerry on farm and ranch. Charron and the agents on the day-to-day stuff that walks in the door. The same team that's been here for the last sixty years.
Why now
The honest answer is that the new website gave us a place to put it. The other honest answer is that we get asked the same questions enough times that writing them down once seemed like the neighborly thing to do.
So bookmark the page, or don't. If something we publish saves you a headache or a dollar or both, that's a good day for us.
Walk in, give us a call, or start a quote — whichever's easiest. We'll be here.
Have questions about how this applies to your coverage? Walk in, call, or start a quote — we'll shop 30+ carriers.
