Tips: Keeping Your Home Warm

Hearth Warming Tips

  1. Move furniture away from vents. You might have placed furniture on top of vents, preventing your room from utilizing the heat supplied. Consider rearranging your furniture, at least for the winter in order to get the most out of your heating system.
  2. Keep doors to rooms closed “sealing” the heat in.  By keeping doors closed the hot air won’t escape, leaving the room warm and waiting for the next person to use it.
  3. Let The Sun shine in through open windows, even if it is cold out the suns rays can still help heat rooms in your home.
  4. Keep curtains closed at night. After the sun has gone down the windows that let the heat in, can also let it out. So cover those windows or pin up blankets over “leaky” doors like those leading outdoors or to a garage.
  5. Cook with your oven. Aside from the warmth gained at a hot meal, the oven can help keep your house warmer.
